Check In & Check Out

Preferred times 8:15 AM-11:30 AM or 3:00 PM-5:30 PM. This allows enough time for your pet to settle in upon arrival and paperwork to be completed. You will be charged for the day your pet arrives, but not the departure day if picked up before noon.

OBEDIENCE, AGILITY, CONFORMATION CLASSES & WATER SPORT EVENTS

We realize you may have questions about our training methods or your own puppy/dogs' needs relative to our class offerings. Please do not hesitate to phone us if you have any question on a class, schedule or to ask our advice regarding your personal situation. We encourage the entire household be involved with training your family dog.

How to register:

  • Must Phone (203) 426-2881 for pre-enrollment.
  • The class Training Registration & Release Form can be printed out here or picked up at Cassio.  Please complete and bring it 10 minutes prior to the first class with payment (cash or check only). Click Here for Training Registration & Release Form.  New forms are required to be completed each calendar year.
Cost is per SESSION consisting of SIX 45 minute weekly classes except as noted.    

All CLASSES: Dogs are not required to be purebred.   Pre-class enrollment is required. Aggressive dogs must be evaluated prior to enrolling. If convenient, complete Registration Form prior to first class and check-in.

Obedience

$100 PUPPY PRESCHOOL— 4 Week Session
STARTS: TUESDAY, February 28, 2012 at 8:00 PM
Offered for healthy puppies 10 weeks to 6 months of age. This is an important step for proper development of a well adjusted and behaved pet.  Research has shown that the critical period in a puppy's mental development occurs before 16 weeks of age.  Socialization, confidence building, and leadership exercises will be covered, as well as discussions on topics such as nipping, chewing and management of their environment.  It is vital to your puppy's well-being to begin socialization and basic training early.   Do not feed your puppy after 4PM prior to class.  AKC S.T.A.R. PUPPY PROGRAM available, call for further information.

LEVEL #1 $150 BASIC DOG TRAINING —The foundation class for all dog training. 
STARTS: MONDAY, February 27, 2012 at 5:45 PM OR 7:15 PM OR TUESDAY,February 28, 2012 at 7:00 PM OR our
"Fast Track Session" of one hour morning classes. STARTS: March 6th at 10:00 AM (phone for further details).

Suitable for first timers of all ages as well as a refresher. Covering focused attention, sit, down, stand, including stays at all three positions.  Come when called, controlled walking, wait and leave it commands. A necessary class that establishes the basis for an appropriate relationship between the family and a dog living with them.

Arrive 10 minutes prior to first class to complete Registration, Check-in and Payment. Bring your completed Registration Form (available on our website), appropriate training collar, 6' and 15' training leads (not retractable) small treats, soft-soled shoes and paper towels. A fitted training collar, leads, and treats are available to purchase during check-in

AKC CGC EvaluatorLEVEL #2 $100 K-9 MANNERS with AKC K-9 GOOD CITIZEN TRAINING & TEST
STARTS: MONDAY, February 27, 2012 at 6:30 PM or TUESDAY "Fast Track" March 6th at 9 AM (call for info)
For dogs having acquired our BASIC DOG TRAINING foundation skills. An emphasis is placed on further development of social skills with special attention on skills needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Testing is done on site. Therapy Dogs: After achieving their CGC Certification, arrangements can be made to assist in further training for Therapy work.

LEVEL #3 $100 PROGRESSIVE SKILLS Including Rally, Tricks and Nose Games, etc.
STARTS:  TUESDAY, February 28, 2012 at 6:00 PM
For graduates with Level #1 and #2 training skills. These classes will further enhance the relationship between dog and owner. With the goal of a more consistent and reliable response to commands, we will build toward off-lead stays and recalls, off-lead heeling, drop on recall, out of sight sits and downs, hand signals and directed jumping while enhancing other skills through a variety of structured exercises and games. This class will also incorporate Rally-O, tricks and nose games as a fun way to enhance your training, as well as to prepare your dog for competition.

Agility

$90  AGILITY—($70 as ADD-ON of same dog)
STARTS: WEDNESDAY, February 29, 2012
For canines that have learned our BASIC DOG TRAINING skills including the STAY command. Agility is an active sport that creates fun, excitement, and confidence for the dog and handler team while they learn and negotiate various course obstacles. Emphasis is on positive encouragement and enforcement while training.

Introduction to Agility at 12:30 PM or 6:00 PM
This class introduces the basic foundation skills of how to safely negotiate the various agility obstacles. Included obstacles are the A-frame, Dog Walk, See-Saw, Tunnels, Weave Poles, Pause Table, Tire and Jumps. The focus of this class is a safe introduction to learn how to negotiate all the various agility obstacles. 

Intermediate Agility at 7:00 PM
Obstacle recognition, sequencing obstacles, gaining speed and accuracy are developed, while proper handling and communication techniques of the handler are introduced.

Advanced Agility at 8:00 PM
Emphasis in this class is to build teamwork and motivation, focus and direction; further development of skills and timing give the active dog and handler more challenge.

Conformation or Breed Handling

30 minutes of personalized conformation breed handling or Junior Showmanship instruction designed to optimize you and your dog's performance. $20 BREED HANDLING / JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASS— A group "drop-in" class (3 or more students) lasting a minimum of 45 minutes. For those individuals desiring to exhibit their own dogs or prepare their dogs for exhibit at AKC shows. Emphasis is placed on ring procedures, basic handling methods, advanced handling techniques with proper presentation and thought. Prior notice of attendance is required.

$50 PRIVATE LESSON—30 minutes of personalized conformation or breed handling instruction designed to optimize you and your dog's performance for dog show exhibition. Lessons can be scheduled at any mutually convenient time.

Water Sports

A natural spring fed pond, approximately 50 x 150 feet and 6 feet deep is available on our property. The pond can be used by your dog for recreational swimming, retrieving work, sports jumping, etc. A regulation size dock, 8 x 40 feet extends into the pond for "Dock Jumping." Reservations are required for "Pond Time" and can be made for an individual dog, a group of dogs, or for eligible dogs while lodging. Cost: $10/ person per half-hour

$50 Private Half-hour Lessons are available to assist your dog in having a pleasant swimming experience, or to learn "Dock Jumping," or to perfect his technique in "Dock Jumping."

Fenced Play Yard

A 90 x 110 foot, completely fenced grass Play/Training yard is available by reservation. A great spot to let your canine really stretch his/her legs! Cost $10/ person per half-hour.
